Abstract

The availability of information on genetic diversity based on morphological characters of a plant species is very important to support conservation and plant breeding programs. Through the availability of this information, it can facilitate breeders to explore the potential of taro in Indonesia so that it can be maximally utilized. This research is an exploratory study that uses a descriptive explorative survey method. Determination of the sample in this study by purposive sampling, namely by determining the criteria of the population that can be sampled. The data generated will then be analyzed using variability analysis and cluster analysis through the SPSS application. Variability analysis aims to determine the diversity of the morphological characters studied. Meanwhile, cluster analysis aims to analyze the similarity of each accession based on the morphological characters that have been determined. Based on the observation results, 10 accessions were found, namely AITJ01.1, AITJ01.2, AITJ02.1, AITJ02.2, AITJ03.1, AISW01.1, AISW01.2, AISW02.1, AISW02.2 and AIDL01.1.

which are spread across three villages in Ganeas District. Of the 10 accessions found, after analysis, information was obtained that accessions AITJ01.2 and AITJ02.2 had the lowest coefficient value of 66, meaning that these accessions had a high level of similarity. While accessions AITJ02.1 and AIDL01.1 have a coefficient value of 415, which means that these accessions have a high level of similarity. While accessions AITJ02.1 and AIDL01.1 have a coefficient value of 415, which means that these accessions have a high level of similarity. While accessions AITJ02.1 and AIDL01.1 have a coefficient value of 415, which means that these accessions have the lowest level of similarity. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that there are three main villages that have high taro productivity in Ganeas District, the diversity of morphological characters of taro plants found is categorized as broad on quantitative characters and categorized as narrow on qualitative characters.
