Abstract

Mammals are a class of vertebrates whose name is derived from the Latin word mammae, referring to the ability of females to produce milk to nourish their young. This group plays an important role in maintaining ecosystem balance through various ecological functions. In mangrove ecosystems, mammals contribute to environmental stability by controlling the populations of certain organisms, dispersing plant seeds, and participating in ecological interactions that support the sustainability of mangrove habitats. One of the coastal mangrove ecosystems is in Teluk Pambang Village, Bengkalis island, Riau Province. The coastal mangrove ecosystem at the research site is classified as a strategic location because it is directly adjacent to the Malacca Straitand neighboring countries. Therefore, this area will face many environmental challenges, including potential damage to natural resources and existing environmental conditions, including threats to the biodiversity of mammal species. This study was conducted to analyze the diversity of mammal species and identify the conservation status of mammals Coastal Mangrove Ecosystems in Teluk Pambang Village, Bengkalis Island, Riau Province. The research method used is a direct method using the line transect method, rapid assessment and indirect methods using the trap method, trail observation method and interviews. The results of data analysis in Teluk Pambang Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, the value of species diversity (H) is 0.93 (low diversity), the value of species richness (R) is 0.83 (low richness), the value of species evenness (E) is 0.48 (uneven) and the value of species dominance is 0.52 (dominant). Conservation status of Conservation status of Macaca fascicularis (endangered), Trachypithecus cristatus (vulnerable), Pteropus vampyrus (near threatened), Pteropus alecto (last concern), Rattus tiomanicus (last concern), Macroglossus minimus (last concern), Magaderma spasma (last concern), Viverra tangalunga (last concern), and Sus scrofa (last concern).
