Abstract

Mangrove forests are ecosystems that have an important role in maintaining environmental balance, both in terms of protecting the coastline, providing habitat for various species, and contributing to the process of mitigating climate change through carbon sequestration. The existence of mangrove forests also provides economic and social benefits for the surrounding community, especially those who depend on marine products and fisheries activities.  The existence of mangrove forests on Osi Island currently faces the threat of pest attacks that can disrupt the structure and function of the mangrove forest ecosystem. Pest attacks on mangrove forests can cause damage to various ecosystem components, ranging from loss of mangrove vegetation, decreased biodiversity, to disruption of ecosystem stability itself. This study aims to identify the forms of damage to mangrove plants. The research method used was purposive a sampling made diagonally. The results showed that there are 5 types of pests that attack mangrove plants, namely: termites (Prorhinotermes sp), moths (Heterocera), black ants (Dolichoderus thoracicus), sea snails (Hexaplex trunculus) and crickets (Oecanthus latipennis). With the intensity of attack of each pest classified in the category of mild attack.
